The Retired Racehorse Project is a wonderful and meaningful program that offers retired horses a second career next to racing. Majority of thoroughbred horses finish their racing careers before the age of seven. However, these horses still have a long life ahead of about 20 more years. Planning out what to do with an ex-racehorse is usually a challenge as there are lots of misconceptions about them. For example, many of us believe that these horses are difficult by nature, difficult and expensive to care for, difficult to ride, etc.
The main goal of the Retired Racehorse Project is to promote the placement of retired racehorses by teaching people about the history, unique characteristics, versatility of use, and appropriate care and training of these horses.
